A California community college professor has scolded one of her 19-year-old students after he called police ‘heroes’.

The student, Braden Ellis, got into the heated exchange with his communications professor at Cypress College after he gave a Zoom presentation about ‘cancel culture’ in the United States.

Footage of their exchange, which he says came immediately after his presentation, shows the professor repeatedly interrupting Ellis after he defended police.

The female professor, who wasn’t immediately identified, kept insisting that police were bad.

The student, Braden Ellis, got into the heated exchange with his unidentified communications professor at Cypress College in California after he gave a Zoom presentation about ‘cancel culture’ and defending police

At one point, she suggested police were created in the South to track down runaway slaves and that it was a form of systemic racism.

‘I think cops are heroes,’ Ellis said at the beginning of the exchange.

He was immediately interrupted by the professor, saying: ‘All of them?’

Before being cut off again, Ellis managed to argue: ‘I’d say a good majority. You have bad people in every business’

‘Yet, a lot of police officers have committed an atrocious crime and have gotten away with it and have never been convicted of any of it,’ the professor could then be heard saying.

Ellis responded: ‘We have bad people, and the people that do bad things should be brought to justice… I agree with that.’

The professor then interrupted, saying: ‘So what is your bottom line point? You’re saying police officers should be revered, viewed as heroes? They belong on TV shows with children?’

Ellis, who is a business major said he didn't record his exchange with the professor but took it from her archive after it left him feeling shocked

Ellis said: ‘I think they are heroes, in a sense, because they come to your need and help you.’

When the student asked his professor whether she would call police in an emergency, she claimed she would call law enforcement because she doesn’t trust them.

‘My life’s more in danger in their presence… I wouldn’t call anybody,’ she said.

In an interview with Fox News, Ellis said the exchange happened after his 10 minute presentation on cancel culture in which he specifically mentioned how the Nickelodeon show Paw Patrol faced criticism because it showed police in a positive light.

He also noted how the Cops TV series had briefly been stopped, while A&E’s Live PD was completely taken off the air.

Glastonbury is back on! Festival site in Somerset is opening up for campers

Glastonbury is back on… sort of: Festival site in Somerset is opening up for campers – but you’ll need to be quiet after 11pm, and fork out more than £1,000 for a six-night stay

  • Worthy Pastures in Somerset is opening up its fields for a ‘tranquil’ campsite
  • Tents cost from £425 for three nights or £1,125 for six nights during summer
  • Comes four months after Glastonbury organisers revealed it was cancelled
  • Campsite will feature food traders, a bar, composting toilets and ‘village store’

Glastonbury fans will be relieved to hear the festival is back on – as long as they bring their own guitar and keep the noise down from 11pm.

The home of the festival, Worthy Pastures in Somerset, is opening its fields up to campers this summer.

It means there will not be any headliner or famous faces appearing on stage, but for those who want to continue the tradition of travelling to the area it has come as a welcome relief from coronavirus restrictions.

The ‘tranquil, family-friendly site’ will be offering tents from £425 for three nights as well as food traders, a bar and a ‘village store’ offering local produce and freshly baked bread.

There will be showers and composting toilets but holidaymakers will have to pack enough clothes for their stay because there will not be any laundry facilities.

Glasto Thingy, an online chronicler for the festival, said: ‘I think it looks great. There seems to be a fair bit of excitement. I think the spaces will go pretty quickly.’

Advertisements have suggested a stay at the campsite will be a chance to get ‘back to basics’.

And for larger bookings, an eight-person scout tent costs £1,125 for six nights over the August bank holiday weekend.

In its statement, the festival said: ‘After what has been a challenging year for so many, we’re so pleased to be able to provide the opportunity for our crew to do what they do best, and we can’t wait to welcome our first guests back on to the farm. It will be a much-needed boost to morale all round!’

Bookings opened at 10am this morning.

In January the music festival’s co-organiser, Michael Eavis – who curates the lineup with his daughter Emily, said he was ‘so sorry’ to have to cancel the event for the second year in a row.

Most live music events, including Glastonbury, were wiped out last summer by the pandemic and a recent study warned that without state support, Britain’s £1.3billion live music industry is heading for another summer washout.

Michael and his daughter Emily said: ‘With great regret, we must announce that this year’s Glastonbury Festival will not take place, and that this will be another enforced fallow year for us.

Glastonbury Festival founder Michael Eavis (pictured in 2013), said he was ‘so sorry’ to have to cancel the event for the second year in a row

‘In spite of our efforts to move heaven & earth, it has become clear that we simply will not be able to make the Festival happen this year. We are so sorry to let you all down.

‘As with last year, we would like to offer all those who secured a ticket in October 2019 the opportunity to roll their £50 deposit over to next year, and guarantee the chance to buy a ticket for Glastonbury 2022.

‘We are very appreciative of the faith and trust placed in us by those of you with deposits, and we are very confident we can deliver something really special for us all in 2022!

‘We thank you for your incredible continued support and let’s look forward to better times ahead. With love, Michael & Emily.’

Last year marked the 50th anniversary of Glastonbury, and the June festival in 2020 had been set to see Sir Paul McCartney, Taylor Swift and Kendrick Lamar perform on the hallowed grounds of Worthy Farm in Somerset, south west England.

Jose Mourinho ‘will wait to be back in football’ after Tottenham sacking and reveals return timeline

Jose Mourinho won’t be rushing back to football after Tottenham sacking and a return next season ‘could be premature’ but another Premier League job looks most likely as he all but rules out ‘pressure-free’ France and Germany

  • Mourinho discussed the timeframe of his return to football after Spurs departure
  • But he ruled out working in a ‘pressure-free environment’ like France or Germany
  • The Portuguese is set to be a pundit during the delayed Euro 2020 tournament
  • He added that Gareth Southgate’s England is ‘one of the candidates’ to win it
  • The 58-year-old admitted he was keen to finish his career in an international job

Jose Mourinho has revealed a return to football next season ‘could be premature’ after being sacked as Tottenham manager.

Mourinho, 58, was dismissed by Spurs chairman Daniel Levy on April 19 with the side seventh in the Premier League and less than a week before the Carabao Cup final, which they lost 1-0 to Manchester City under 29-year-old interim boss Ryan Mason.

In a Times interview, most of which was carried out before his departure, the Portuguese also criticised the lack of competition in France and Germany and discussed England’s prospects at the delayed European Championship tournament.

Jose Mourinho has opened up on his next steps after being sacked as Tottenham manager

He said: ‘I have no plans, I am going on with my normal life. I feel fresh. I feel calm. I am on holiday. I have more time to be doing my homework and analysis. I’ll wait to be back in football. Not just for the right club, but for the right culture. Maybe next season is premature, we will see.

‘I won everything with Inter. There is a special affection. But if one day I have to go to Italy and coach a rival club, I don’t think twice. I have this professional way of looking at things. I feel good with myself.’

However, the Portuguese ruled out a move to the likes of Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain, given their massive dominance in their respective domestic leagues – despite being highly unlikely to move to either club.

He ruled out a move to Bayern Munich or Paris Saint-Germain due to the lack of competition

‘In Germany and France, if you go to club A (Bayern) or club B (PSG), you know your destiny is written immediately. In England it is competition at the highest level. That attracted me. It’s all about the pressure. I want it. I would choose pressure, always. I refuse to go to a country where the pressure doesn’t exist. I refuse!’

It was announced on Friday that Mourinho would be part of Talksport’s radio coverage of the Euros, and he talked up the chances of Gareth Southgate’s England side winning the competition.

‘England is one of the candidates. I don’t think they can run away from it. They play the group phase in England. And is not just England looking good, is nobody looking phenomenal. They have home advantage, they make a camp at the Tottenham HQ. They have the same coach for a few years.

And the Portuguese discussed the prospects of Gareth Southgate’s England side winning it

‘They have the experience of playing at the (Russia 2018) World Cup where they did very well. In that World Cup, they were still a little bit young. Marcus Rashford in that World Cup was just a little bit young. Many players the same. I think (there) is a big chance.’

The twice-former Chelsea boss then opened up on his desire to manage an international side at the end of his career.

‘One day I want to do it! I want to do a Euro or a World Cup! I can coach any team, Portugal or anyone. Portugal would be more natural because I could add the honour, but if one day I accept to do it for another country, I want to feel the same honour.’

When asked about the England job, he diplomatically concluded: ‘England has many options.’

Napoli ‘considering Galtier, Spalletti and Italiano as replacements for manager Gennaro Gattuso’

Napoli are ‘considering, Christophe Galtier, Luciano Spalletti and Vincenzo Italiano as replacements for Gennaro Gattuso’ but president Aurelio De Laurentiis ‘could try and convince the manager the club qualify for the Champions League’

  • Napoli are considering three replacements for managre Gennaro Gattuso
  • Christophe Galtier, Luciano spalletti and Vicenzo Italiano are all on the list
  • Gattuso has had a difficult relationship with president Aurelio De Laurentiis has
  • But he could try and convince the coach to stay if Napoli make the top four

Napoli have reportedly drawn up a shortlist of three candidates to replace manager Gennaro Gattuso at the end of the season.

Gattuso has had a difficult relationship with club president Aurelio De Laurentiis since his criticism of the team earlier this year, with the manager unhappy about reports linking other coaches to his job.

According to Sky Sport Italia, via Football Italia, De Laurentiis has already started planning for life without Gattuso and is considering Luciano Spalletti, Christophe Galtier and Vincenzo Italiano as replacements.

Lille boss Christophe Galtier is said to be one of the options Napoli are considering

Former Inter Milan boss Luciano Spalletti is also on the list

Lille boss Christophe Galtier (L) and former Inter Milan boss Luciano Spalletti (R) are on the list

Napoli insisted they had ‘total confidence’ in Gattuso back in January after reports De Laurentiis had rung Rafa Benitez about taking the job following the club’s 3-1 defeat by Hellas Verona.

De Laurentiis asked for a meeting with sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli to discuss Gattuso’s position but then decided to stick by their manager.

A statement read: ‘President Aurelio De Laurentiis, Vice-President Edoardo and CEO Andrea Chiavelli have had a meeting with the first-team squad and coaching staff this evening and confirmed their total confidence in coach Rino Gattuso.’

Spezia coach Vincenzo Italiano is another possible option the club are said to be considering

But the club are now said to be looking the possible candidates once again.

Former Inter Milan and Roma boss Spalletti, Lille manager Galtier and Spezia coach  Italiano are all said to be under consideration.

Spalletti is currently out of work after leaving Inter in 2019 but has regularly been linked with a move to Naples.

Galtier has had a fantastic season in charge of Lille, with the club top of Ligue 1 and looking to win their first title since 2011.

Italiano helped guide Spezia to promotion from Serie B in the 2019-2020 season and is on course to keep them in the Italian top flight for another campaign.

However, it is also claimed that De Laurentiis could try and convince Gattuso to stay if Napoli qualify for the Champions League.

The club are currently third in Serie A but are level on points with Juventus and AC Milan, who sit in fourth and fifth place.

Jennifer Garner models droopy hat with sleek sunglasses as she steps out for a solo stroll in LA

Jennifer Garner opts for laid-back sportswear and chic sunglasses as she steps out for a solo stroll in LA

Jennifer Garner cut a casual figure while out and about in Los Angeles this Friday.

The 49-year-old enjoyed a solo sunlit stroll and warded off the rays with a fashionable hat as well as a sleek pair of shades.

She tucked a simple white T-shirt into a pair of black fitted jeans and added a splash of glitz to the look with a medallion necklace.

Off she goes: Jennifer Garner was spotted putting a dapper spin on California casual while out in Los Angeles this Friday

Last week she was seen dashing about New York City ringing in her latest birthday but she has since returned home to Los Angeles.

Jennifer shares her three children – Violet, 15, Seraphina, 12, and Samuel, nine – with her smoldering ex-husband Ben Affleck.

Although the pair have been split up since 2015 they have retained a famously amicable co-parenting relationship.

Ben has reportedly been spending time with his ex-fiance Jennifer Lopez after her split from her fifth and latest fiance Alex Rodriguez.

‘Security picks him up at a nearby location and drops him off after spending a few hours at her house,’ a Page Six source dished.

However insiders said the rapport between them is platonic and one insisted: ‘They are friends…they’ve never not been.’

Last month Jennifer Garner revealed she had changed her mind on one of her famous quotes from the early days of her separation from Ben.

The 48-year-old actress told Vanity Fair in 2016 that ‘I lost the dream of dancing with my husband at my daughter’s wedding.’

However in a recent Hollywood Reporter interview she smiled and said: ‘When our kids get married, we’ll dance, I know that now.’
