David Beckham is honoured by wife Victoria on his 46th birthday

‘We all love you so so much’: David Beckham is honoured by wife Victoria on his 46th birthday as former footballer is presented with a doppelgänger made out of balloons

David Beckham’s 46th birthday was celebrated in typically extravagant fashion on Sunday as wife Victoria paid tribute to her husband after presenting him with a footballing doppelgänger made entirely out of balloons.

The former Manchester United and England legend entered the latter half of his forties on May 2nd as the family enjoy an extended stay in Florida, home to Beckham’s co-owned soccer franchise Inter Miami.

And Victoria, 47, credited her husband of 22-years in a series of Instagram posts as he celebrated his special day.

We love you: David Beckham’s 46th birthday was honoured by wife Victoria in a series of Instagram posts on Sunday

Sharing an image of herself and David on Sunday morning, she wrote: ‘Looks like you’re catching me up!! To a very special husband and the most incredible daddy… Happy birthday we all love you so so much.’

The fashion designer also gave followers an early glimpse of their preparations for the day by revealing a large caricature of David made entirely out of balloons.

Dressed in the distinctive pink and black home colours of Inter Miami – the club he successfully founded in 2018 – the balloons also appeared to respect his penchant for sculpted facial hair.

Referencing the apparent likeness to her husband in a short video, Victoria wrote: ‘There are similarities, I can’t lie.’

The posts come after Victoria gave an insight into how her family spent lockdown together.

Victoria and David spent the first lockdown in the Cotswolds with children Romeo, 17, Cruz, 15 and Harper, nine – while eldest son Brooklyn, 22, spent some time with fiancee Nicola Peltz, 26, in the States.

Speaking to Evening Standard editor Emily Sheffield for London Rising, she revealed that unlike most of the nation – she refused to wear loungewear in the house – but did identify with parents stuggling with homeschooling.

Discussing how the family coped in the last year, she revealed that she acted as a ‘cheerleader’ for the group and was determined to keep everyone’s spirits high as they focused on spending time together.

Phil Neville insists his appointment at Inter Miami was NOT a gift from David Beckham

Phil Neville insists his appointment at Inter Miami was NOT a gift from his pal and former Man United team-mate David Beckham, as he claims the interview process was ‘as hard as any I have done’

  • Ex-Lioness coach Phil Neville was appointed as the Inter Miami boss in January
  • Neville is adamant that he was not ‘given’ the job by his friend David Beckham
  • He says the interview process ‘was as difficult as any’ others he has experienced
  • Neville also claims he has ‘got off to a good start’ after securing his first victory

Phil Neville is adamant that he was not ‘given’ the Inter Miami job by his old friend and former Manchester United team-mate David Beckham.

Having joined the American outfit in January, Neville says the interview process ‘was as difficult as any’ others he had experienced and claims it was difficult to ‘convince’ the owners that he was the ‘right person’.

The former Lioness manager believes he has ‘got off to a good start’ at the club after securing his first victory against Philadelphia Union on April 25.

Neville played with Beckham on Manchester United from 1994 to 2003 and England’s national team from 1996 to 2007.

The former Class of ’92 pair are also part owners of fourth-tier Salford City in England.

However, Neville claims his relationship with Beckham has nothing to do with his appointment as the MLS club’s manager.

Speaking to TalkSport, Neville said: ‘When I was looking at this job I have to say, and you’re probably not going to believe me, but the interview process was as hard as any I have done.

‘In terms of convincing – not David, David knows my qualities and we’d been speaking about this for a long time – but the other owners, the Mas family who are major shareholders in the organisation, they wanted to know and they wanted to pick the right person.

‘They had sacked a manager after 12 months which they didn’t want to do, and they knew they had to make big, big changes and they have invested a lot of money into the facilities.

‘Our training ground is worth £80m and it’s as good as anything in European football – it’s the best in America.

‘Ultimately they liked me, they employed me and we’ve got off to a good start.’

Beckham – who was given ownership of a future MLS team at a discounted rate as part of his transfer to the LA Galaxy in 2007 – has also hit out at claims he hired Neville due to their friendship.

He said during a press conference: ‘Of course, people are always going to turn around and say, oh, it’s because he’s your friend. It’s nothing to do with him being my friend.

‘Our ownership group don’t just employ our friends. We employ the best people, whether it’s on the field, off the field, in our backroom staff, the staff that we have work in our training facility, at the stadium.

‘We are running a serious soccer club here. And I think at the end of the day, we hire people that we feel are best suited for the job.’

The Premier League legend is also trying to flog his Manchester city centre penthouse after his US move and has had to slash £750,000 off the price.

Neville has had the three-storey apartment in flash Beetham Tower on the market for much of the last decade.

However after snapping up the Inter Miami role, he cut the asking price by more than 20 per cent.

Phil Neville handed first victory as Inter Miami boss after his side beat Philadelphia Union

Phil Neville gets his first win as Inter Miami boss as they fight back to beat Philadelphia Union thanks to goals from Gonzalo and Federico Higuain – the first brothers to EVER score in the same MLS match

  • Inter Miami beat Philadelphia Union 2-1 on Saturday in Major League Soccer
  • It was Phil Neville’s first victory as the manager of David Beckham’s MLS club
  • Brothers Gonzalo Higuain and Federico Higuain provided the goals for the side

Inter Miami’s 2-1 victory over Philadelphia Union on Saturday saw Phil Neville record his first win as boss of the MLS outfit.

Neville was appointed as the manager of the team co-owned by former Manchester United team-mate David Beckham in January, but had been denied a result during his opening game in charge by LA Galaxy.

However, it was brothers Gonzalo Higuain and Federico Higuain who provided the goals to see Neville’s side triumph on Saturday.

It was Philadelphia Union who opened the scoring the 27th minute of the game, thanks to a strike from Jamiro Monteiro.

Philadelphia held the advantage until the 73rd minute of game when Gonzalo equalised for Inter Miami after being assisted by his brother Federico.

Just 10 minutes later Federico went on to score the winning goal and hand Neville his first MLS victory.

Gonzalo and Federico’s contribution also saw them become the first pair of brothers ever to score in the same MLS match.

Having played with his older brother Gary for Manchester United and England, Neville is aware of the ‘special bond’ Gonzalo and Federico share.

Speaking of their partnership after the game, Neville said: ‘There is a special bond when you’re in the same team.

‘Though Federico and Gonzalo are obviously just teammates, there’s a love, there’s a bond, there’s an understanding because I had the same feeling.’

The Inter Miami boss went on to credit Federico’s individual contribution, claiming he made a ‘massive impact on the game’.

‘I think he deserves to be talked about in his own right,’ Neville said.

‘I think the key when for Fede comes on in games — the game is more open, more stretched — to use his experience, find the right spaces.

‘We’ve got someone to come on who can keep us going, keep the ball, keep possession, but more importantly have a massive impact on the game.’
