Several said they turn to ordering lunches through the school canteen, while others pack ham and cheese toasties.

‘Lunch order, so thankful my school uses an app so I don’t even have to look for cash to give them,’ one mum said.

‘Ham and cheese roll from the bakery, some fruit and a yoghurt – our tuck shop hasn’t been open for over a year,’ another said.

A third said: ‘A sandwich is my go-to quick lunch, although I usually make slices and quiches to freeze.’
