Loathed Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke issues statement insisting he ‘will not entertain any offer’ to sell the club amid interest from Spotify’s Daniel Ek and says he is ‘100% committed’ to the Gunners

Stan Kroenke has firmly underlined his desire to remain as Arsenal’s owner amid interest from Spotify owner Daniel Ek.

A statement from Kroenke Sports Enterprises on Tuesday evening said: ‘In recent days we have noted media speculation regarding a takeover of Arsenal football club.

‘We remain 100% committed to Arsenal, are not selling any stake in the club, have not received any offer and will not entertain any offer.

‘Our ambition for Arsenal remains to compete to win the biggest trophies in the game and our focus remains on improving our competitiveness on the pitch to achieve this.’ 

Gunners fans gathered in their thousands outside the Emirates stadium last Friday to protest against Kroenke’s ownership following Arsenal’s involvement in the doomed Super League.

Arsenal were one of the founder members of the tournament which was announced last Sunday before falling to pieces amid fan outrage across the continent. Arsenal withdrew from the plans last Tuesday. 

Spotify owner Ek tweeted last Friday that he is interested in purchasing Arsenal and said he has been a Gunners supporter all his life.

‘As a kid growing up, I’ve cheered for Arsenal as long as I can remember. If KSE would like to sell Arsenal I’d be happy to throw my hat in  the ring,’ Ek wrote.

But Kroenke’s response on Tuesday all but draws a line under Ek’s interest, despite the Spotify chief reportedly drawing in the support of Gunners legends Dennis Bergkamp, Thierry Henry and Patrick Vieira ahead of a mooted £1.8billion bid.

Mikel Arteta’s side lost 1-0 to Everton last Friday and are currently 10th in the Premier League standings.
