The £45 shirt dress comes in a midi length and features short puff sleeves and an oversized collar with a feminine ruffled edge.

Darts at the waist provide a flattering silhouette and its button-through fastening adds a classic, contemporary look for summer.

The chic frock is perfect for beer gardens, BBQs and get-togethers in the park and would look smart paired with wedges, heels or trainers for a more casual vibe.

Some fans likened the monochrome frock, shared to the High Street brand’s Instagram this week, to the now infamous Zara dress that went viral in 2019.  

Another branded the collared dress, which is cut below the knee, the ‘dress of dreams’. 

Less than 24 hours since a snap of the dress was shared to the M&S Instagram page, it notched up more than 6,600 likes and attracted dozens of admiring comments.

One fan wrote: ‘This dress,’ followed by heart eye emojis, adding: ‘Good tan and some gorgeous wedges!’

The M&S Collection dress comes in regular and long styles, with the latter still available in sizes 6-16. The latter is almost sold out, with just sizes 6 and 8 remaining.

It noted how the dress was often spotted multiple times at the same event, including at London festivals and Glastonbury.
